October Pre-Alpha Announcement

Hello ZDay fans!

This is Darrian (Chris Greene), the new Public Relations agent for Arrowhead Games. This is the first in a series of dev blogs that will be posted throughout the development process of ZDay. You can expect to see all of the developers post now and then about what they've been up to, but for the most part you'll be getting general updates of the process from your's truly.

I'm not the only one who's recently joined the team though, David Swallow (Dswal) has also been asked to join the Dev team, bringing his talent of modeling with him. Give him a congratulations on the forums and make him feel welcome!

I'm very pleased to announce that we're planning new pre-alpha test for late October. Along with this you can expect new screenshots and teasers coming soon. This new build will include a greatly expanded Furor city, smarter zombies using our new NavMesh system, plenty of new models and of course an assortment of new weapons to kill the infected with.

We're also investigating various funding options so we can upgrade to a highend dedicated games server. This will allow many more players to join in the game for testing. It will also stop our server host from complaining that we're using all the CPU power!

Expect to see soon a blog from Derrick Bozkurt (debozkurt), our Audio Lead on writing the main theme music for ZDay, and hopefully a little something from Andy Rollins (Bariel) showing how the NavMesh works.

I'll leave you with a few screenshots showing some new areas of the city...
